Snap, the company that manages Snapchat, presented the new Spectacles , its glasses for Augmented Reality. Unlike the first versions which only had a simple video camera to record what you saw, these lenses enable augmented vision. The Spectacles weigh 134 grams, have a dual 3D display with waveguide technology and a field of view of 26.3 degrees, 2 cameras with RGB sensor, 4 integrated microphones, 2 stereo speakers and a touchpad to give commands. The screen dynamically adjusts (up to 2,000 nits brightness) for indoor and outdoor use. The software heart is called "Spatial Engine" and allows six degrees of freedom and the tracking of hands, signals and surfaces, in order to guarantee a realistic superposition of digital objects in physical reality.
The hardware platform is Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR1. Snap's strategy for augmented India Mobile Number Data reality The battery life is about 30 minutes, but it doesn't matter because this new product, which resembles the glasses that were distributed at the cinema for watching 3D films, is not for sale. It will be given to a limited number of creators to develop applications (called “Lens”) aimed at rethinking the way we communicate and explore the world . In fact, the glasses are the terminal of the apps that will be created with "Lens Studio", the "Low Code/No Code" software (which does not require writing code) which is already used by over 200,000 creatives to create special effects in augmented reality that are used by over 200 million people every day.
Where? In any software that uses Camera Kit, the Snap Camera API, such as Samsung smartphones. And, obviously, inside Snapchat, which, contrary to common perception, has 500 million active users per month and 280 million per day. Snap's strategy is a platform strategy that is based on the ability to build an ecosystem of partners that can thrive while contributing to the success of the platform. It won't be easy, but the opportunity is tempting. In its Snap Consumer AR report , Deloitte estimates that 1.5 billion people already use some augmented reality application, at least every week. A huge figure, but plausible if you think about the use of 3D masks which are also found on Facebook and Messenger, and destined to grow up to 4.3 billion in 2025.
